About
Journey for Knowledge is WFI’s land-based immersion learning program. It focuses on the physical, mental, and spiritual connections between land, language, culture, and food, giving students an opportunity to learn through direct experience rather than classroom instruction alone. Led by Elders and Knowledge Keepers, the program helps students build awareness, deepen cultural understanding, and strengthen their relationship to the land. Teachings may include ceremony, traditional medicines, the history of the land, hunting, stewardship, language, and other community-rooted practices. Journey for Knowledge is designed to help students reconnect with identity, community, and Indigenous ways of knowing while also creating space for reflection, growth, and storytelling. Students are given opportunities to document their learning and share stories through film.
