Phyllis Ellis

Instructor: Screenwriting

Phyllis Ellis is a Canadian writer-director.

Phyllis has directed episodes of the award winning series Made to Order and The Wilkinsons, while also playing a supporting role. She directed the critically acclaimed documentary series Crystal: Living and the comedy Three Chords From the Truth, for Movie Central and CMT Canada.


Steven Cochrane

Instructor: Directing

Steve Cochrane is an award-winning Canadian actor, writer and director.
Steve’s first feature film We Were Wolves was an official selection of the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival. In 2013, Steve won the Digital Emmy for Best Digital Program: Fiction for wiring and directing  Endgame: Facebook Episode and in 2009 Steve shared the Gemini award for Best Ensemble Performance for his role of Mick McCafferty in the critically acclaimed series Three Chords From the Truth. Steve was the series director for Three Chords. Steve is also a founding member of the award-winning sketch comedy troupe The Dance Party of Newfoundland.

Patrick Cassavetti

Instructor: Producing 

Patrick Cassavetti is an English-producer, who has worked in both Canada and the United States.
Cassavetti was born in Nottingham, England and studied film and photography in London. He has worked with Terry Gilliam, most notably collaborating on the Gilliam’s 1985 film, Brazil.

Mark Irwin

Instructor: Cinematography

Mark Irwin, A.S.C., C.S.C. is a Canadian cinematographer.
Mark Irwin studied Filmmaking at York University, and is famous for his early work with David Cronenberg on films such as, Fast CompanyScannersVideodrome and The Fly.

Nano Debassige

Instructor: Editing 

Nano has worked as a photographer/videographer for Freshwater Media. Along with a variety of top-of-the-line industry professionals, Nano also instructs a number of programs at Weengushk Film Institute. He graduated from Sheridan College in the Media Arts program.

Roger Sader

Instructor: Sound Editing 

Roger Sader is a Canadian sound designer for both short films and commercials and is a producer, songwriter and musician.


Roger has worked as a sound designer and composer for video games, commercials, film and television shows. He currently serves as the General Manager and Audio Engineer at Musideum in Toronto. 

Patricia Scarlett

Instructor: Marketing

Patricia Scarlett is the Founder and Chief Academic Officer of Media Business Institute, and has considerable depth in television, film and digital media. 


Patricia Scarlett's experience in the industry began at TVOntario where she worked in international sales. Over the span of her career she has developed and nurtured relationships with producers and broadcasters, which culminated in a number of significant achievements, including her representation of Ataranjuat: The Fast Runner, which won the Camera D'Or at the 2001 Cannes International Film Festival.


Scarlett has worked with the following broadcasters and independent producers: TVOntario, TMN, Bravo, SyFy Channel, South African Broadcasting, Treehouse TV, Norflicks Productions, Daisy Productions, Spoken Song Productions, Loten Media and Two Sisters Productions.
