Phyllis Ellis

Chair

Phyllis Ellis has over 20 years experience as a creator, writer, director, producer and performer in factual and scripted television and film. A 1984 Olympian, Ellis has been involved with Weengushk Film Institute in progressive capacity, and now serves as Weengushk Film Institute Board of Directors Chair.

Christine Whiskeychan

Treasurer

Christine served as Finance Manager for Garden River First Nation for over 30 years. Christine has been involved in many committees and projects involving the community. She is a great addition to WFIs' Board of Directors.

Darlene Kaboni

Darlene is an Indigenous Public Education and Outreach Officer with the Ontario Human Rights Commission. With more than 25 years of experience planning, developing and implementing Indigenous oriented services/programs/public education campaigns, Darlene brings her expertise to assist youth with new planning sessions for a great future for WFI.

Vice-Chair

Director, Indigenous Initiatives & Special Advisor at Mohawk. Amy specializes in Aboriginal Affairs, Aboriginal Relations and Project Planning. Kelaidis has been nominated and voted as Weengushk Film Instittutes' vice-chair.

Cassandra Baars

Secretary

Cassandra is a Lawyer and works as the Indigenous Engagement Lead at the Law Commission of Ontario, Cassandra brings her expert legal experience to our Board of Directors. Dedicated to community justice and women's rights, Cassandra is a great addition to our Board executive.

Dan Donovan is the founding Publisher of Ottawa Life Magazine, the capital’s largest and longest running (est. 1996) general interest and lifestyles magazine. His work has been featured in The Globe and Mail, Financial Post, Sun, Ottawa Citizen, Masthead Magazine and The Hill Times.

Michelles professional experience is in the counselling field combined with academic credentials. She is highly skilled in working with individuals of Aboriginal and cross cultural backgrounds in counselling settings. Michelle is from Garden River First Nation and is Anishinaabe.
