Editor, Cinematographer, Paramedic. Born Nanoshkasheese Debassige on August 17, 1979, in Mindemoya, Ontario. With an early interest in all things
theatrical, Debassige took acting lessons as a child. This quickly blossomed into a heavy interest in the Film and TV world. Growing up Debassige learned whatever he could from whomever would teach and quickly learned where he wanted to go in life.

Debassige attended Sheridan College in Oakville Ontario after High School. He attended the Media Arts Program but was lured away from formal education with a chance to work in “the business”. Debassige would go on taking many jobs in many different aspects of the Film Industry until one day when he got an offer to edit his first documentary entitled “Tracks in the Snow”.

While on the show, Debassige looked for opportunities to show that he was more than just a “Jack of all Trades”. He began an education in Cinematography. Marketing himself as an assistant cameraman he began to find work in this field. He enrolled in a course that the Canadian Society of Cinematographers was holding in Toronto, ON, which lead to him traveling to Rockport, Main to further pursue this ambition.

Debassige came back to Canada after working in New York to be the Director of Photography and Editor for the acclaimed Director Shirley Cheechoo, awarding him several awards in both categories. Debassige had found his niche in the film world but he was not done yet. Debassige then took some time to study Emergency Medicine and in 2006 he became a certified Primary Care Paramedic in Ontario.

Debassige now lives on Manitoulin Island, Ontario and works for both the Weengushk Film Institute as the Facilities Manager and the Manitoulin DSSAB as a Primary Care Paramedic. He still peruses education branching into many fields such as Website production, carpentry and several small businesses.
